Physiopedia is proud to announce the Working With War Survivors Project in collaboration with Handicap International. The project aims to provide resources for physiotherapists who encounter regugees who have encountered war trauma.
The outcome of the project is to enable the public and physiotherapists from around the world to understand what our profession can do to help those experiencing great trauma. Our profession is a caring one and we need to make sure we are able to help those who need us most.
The project is broken down into 3 sections:
- Refugee health, survivors of war and trauma and the role of the physiotherapist
- Muslim patients and cultural considerations for the physiotherapist
- Patients speaking English as a second language (ESL) and cultural considerations for the physiotherapis
The project began a few weeks ago and ends in December 2017. Make sure you bookmark the Physiopedia page Working With War Survivors to keep up to date with the creation of content.
This project has similarities to the Global Health Project launched in July. Both compliment Physiopedia’s goal of improving global health through universal access to physiotherapy knowledge.
