Level 1 - Solutions for Movement Impairments of the Low Back & Hip, South Africa
Description
Later this month Kinetic Control tutor Jacqueline Swart begins the KC 2016 programme in South Africa, starting with this new Level 1 course Solutions for Movement Impairments of the Low Back and Hip. COURSE INTRODUCTION: The close relationship between the low back and hip during functional and performance tasks is widely acknowledged. This perspective supports the need to assess and retrain these regions as co-ordinated functional units in the desire to progress the patient from the pain state, and return them to a place of more optimal movement health. This module applies a structured evaluation process to reveal the movement impairments present within the low back & hip. Once these deficits are made apparent through the movement control diagnostic process, retraining options are explored so as to support restoration of a more optimal movement system. KEY FEATURES: Low back and hip movement is evaluated allowing for movement control impairments to be diagnosed and classified Presentation of a systematic assessment, clinical reasoning and movement retraining process to significantly reduce the incidence and recurrence of low back and hip pain Impairment specific retraining of optimal movement control of the low back and hip to optimise movement health and improve function LEARNING OUTCOMES: At the end of this course the participant should be able to: - Acquire skills to evaluate movement and identify movement impairments - Make a diagnosis of movement impairments - Relate these movement impairments to the patient’s goals and priorities - Learn effective strategies to correct these movement impairments - Consider the neuroscience underpinning the principles of movement evaluation and retraining decision making Tutor Jacqueline Swart started a Manage Movement Centre in South Africa where her main area of expertise is treating patients with various musculoskeletal disorders as well as sports injuries, preventing injuries/recurrence of injuries and improving overall movement health. She is a firm believer in both her mentors’ words: “Managing Movement helps you move better, feel better and do more”. Throughout 2016 Jacqueline will be delivering a series of KC courses in South Africa, full details of which can be found on the KC book a course page http://www.kineticcontrol.com/book-a-course KINETIC CONTROL - Education in Movement Our internationally recognised assessment framework and retraining strategy offers a structured approach to help therapists optimise movement health and reduce recurrence of pain and enhance patients’ quality of life.
