So What’s the Job?
Job Title: Project Officer: Rehabilitation Training Package
Salary: £31,388-33,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications & experience).
Department: UK Emergency Medical Team
Reporting To: Rehabilitation Project Manager
Duration: Fixed-term until 31 July 2019 (full & part time applicants are welcome)
Location: Based in London SE1, with potential for travel worldwide.
The post holder will manage the development of a resource that will provide all rehabilitation professionals with the key knowledge to adapt their practice to work safely and effectively with patients during the early days of their injury in an emergency setting, as well as accompanying patient information resources. It will be used as a training resource (pre-emergency) to prepare clinicians living in disaster prone areas, preparing to work for rehabilitation organizations in emergencies, or who are planning to deploy with emergency medical teams.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
The post holder will deliver the below responsibilities under the supervision of the EMT Rehabilitation Project Manager. Across all elements of the role, the post-holder will draw on expertise within HI, and feed into HI’s wider strategic focus on rehabilitation services in emergencies.
Development of the Resource
- Convene and lead a steering committee consisting of leading clinical and humanitarian organisations and work with the committee to ensure the delivery of the project.
- Manage technical working groups that will develop clinical content is consistent across content, message and format.
- Directly contribute to clinical content in their area of clinical expertise.
- Lead on the authorship of 3 key chapters – rehabilitation in emergencies, clinical governance in emergencies and “other considerations”.
- Lead on the development of accompanying media content via the recruitment of volunteer film makers for short overseas trips to create educational and instructional videos to be embedded into the training resource.
Review of the Resource
- Ensure that all content is of an appropriate level for a global audience and is in line with best practice in emergencies.
- Engage the global professional rehabilitation societies and coordinate a timely, effective review of all content.
- Review and edit all content to prepare it for publication.
Publication & Launch
- Work with physiopedia and the other contributors to integrate the content into an online platform and MOOC
- Work with a professional publishing agency to prepare the content for publication and book and PDF format
- Work with all partners to prepare a launch event to promote the resource.
- Coordinate translation into other languages as required.
Project Management
- Overall management and delivery of the project within agreed timeframes.
- Budget management and reporting in accordance with HI systems.
- Contribute to donor reporting in accordance with grant requirements and in collaboration with grant management colleagues.
Other Duties
- Provide general technical support to the UKEMT project and HI more widely, in particular in the delivery of technical training.
- Pursue opportunities for academic publication of our work in rehabilitation in emergencies.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with HI UK colleagues and the Federal operations division (programmes and technical).
- Represent the organisation at relevant external events and meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all HI policies, including data protection and safeguarding.
- Any other activities commensurate with the level of the post, as may be required by the Project Manager.
